After working as a photographer and journalist in Palestine, I enrolled in the Master of Fine Arts program at Hunter College. I wanted to step away from assignment work and pursue the questions driving my documentary practice within a fine art context.
I grapple with the limits of documentary mediums to convey information and the distortions that occur in their application. I hold onto the problematics that arise from using mediums that carry grim histories into the present as apparatuses of surveillance and control. My work is the result of this process, seeking to sustain the questions it raises rather than provide resolution.
